COST GUIDE

What affects the cost
of air conditioning?

A clear explanation of the factors that shape an air conditioning quotation for a Surrey home or business.

There is no reliable single price for every installation. The system, room, route and property all affect the work required. A useful estimate should separate the equipment choice from the practical installation conditions rather than relying only on floor area.

Worked price examples

Catalogue prices checked on 8 October 2026: a single room using a 2.5 kW Daikin Sensira wall system starts at £1,617 installed. A two room Mitsubishi MSZ-AY Multi-System package with two 2.5 kW wall units starts at £3,840 installed. These are examples of listed configurations, not a price for every property.

Both listed prices include the selected equipment, installation and up to 10m of refrigerant pipework and electrical cable at no extra cost. Extra pipe or cable, electrical work, access equipment, pumps and other site requirements are assessed and quoted after a survey. Prices can change, so check the linked product pages before budgeting.

The system and capacity

Larger rooms and higher heat loads need more output. Capacity is influenced by ceiling height, glazing, insulation, sunlight, occupancy and heat producing equipment. A premium designer unit or advanced control package can also cost more than a straightforward entry range.

Single room and multi-room projects

A single split connects one indoor unit to one outdoor unit. A multi-split connects several compatible indoor units to one outdoor unit. Multi-room projects involve more equipment, longer routes and additional commissioning. Separate single systems may sometimes be simpler, so both approaches should be compared.

Installation route and access

The distance between units, wall construction, condensate drainage and safe working access all affect labour and materials. Scaffolding, specialist access, condensate pumps, decorative covers and unusually long pipe routes should be identified before work starts.

Electrical requirements

The proposed electrical supply and isolation need to suit the selected equipment. Any necessary new circuit or remedial work should be identified in the quotation rather than assumed.

What is included on this website

Published system prices include installation plus up to 10m of refrigerant pipework and electrical cable at no extra cost. The final quotation confirms the equipment, route and any additional requirements after a survey.

How to compare quotations

Compare the exact model, capacity, installation allowance, electrical scope, drainage method, warranty conditions and commissioning. A lower headline price is not directly comparable if important work or materials are excluded.

Website prices and calculator results are planning estimates. A final quotation follows a property survey and confirmed system specification.
